The
aforementioned difficulty to get more and detailed information
seems to be unreasonable. On the other hand there are
understandable arguments of the owners not to publish
defects happened on their ship's machinery.
But
taking into account that more detailed knowledge about
damage occurrences could help to improve the efficiency
of security equipment, could this not be a financial
equilibration due to not occurred accidents?
Therefore
all users of large Diesel Engines on ships, power plants
or anywhere else are encouraged not to hesitate, to
contribute their experienced knowledge for helping to
their own advantage.
