This Internetforum
is designed to make diesel engines more safe and more reliable
in operation. Schaller Automation of Germany, the specialist
for diesel engine monitoring and oil mist detection has initiated
and is sponsoring this website and Diesel & Gas Turbine Worldwide,
the worldwide circulated magazine on diesel engines and gas
turbines for marine propulsion and power generation will moderate
this forum.
The forum will focus on oil mist formation in the crankcase
of diesel engines, in gearboxes and compressors and we invite
contributors to discuss its origin, its detection and how
this message can be used to avoid engine failures and engine
room accidents. Reference is made to the IMO rules for oil
mist detectors and equivalent devices and to a desirable "oil
mist detection efficiency approval!"
All interested individuals in the marine field or in the power
plant business are invited to participate. Based on the curriculum,
which we will publish in this website we ask for comments/presentations
from manufactures and users as well as experts in research,
classification or Insurance companies.
Apart from Schaller Automation, the companies QMI Quality
Monitoring Instruments Ltd and Graviner, both from the United
Kingdom and Daihatsu, Japan, are similarly involved in the
Oil Mist Detection. (the manufacturer of oil mist detection
systems are prepared to be participating with statements).
The expert committee consisting of Prof. Dr. Klaus Groth,
University Hannover, Prof. Dr. Albert Albers, University Karlsruhe
and Mr. Fiedler, FMC Fiedler Motoren Consulting Kiel, will
analyze and prepare all contributions for publication in the
forum. We hope we will have a lively discussion and want to
assure that all of your contributions will find the appropriate
place in the forum as long as they meet the subject and don't
discredit other products or persons.
